Now the government created a new law, based on an ammendment that was created for EMERGENCY and WARTIME during the Junta dictatorship. A law to commandeer and seize private property, citizens’ lands, buildings, farmlands, in order to create MIGRANT CITIES within the islands that will PERMANENTLY house the migrants that OUTNUMBER the permanent population.
They created a task-force of riot police that got into ships at 2 am in order to covertly and silently disembark into the islands and seize the land from the locals and secure a perimeter in order for the technicians and builders to move in and start building the migrant cities.
After dozens of greek men were brutalized and beaten to a pulp in order to give up their lands and farms, to the point of several having to be hospitalized, word got around and people started protesting.

No, the locations were chosen by the government and the owners of the lands, buildings, farms, pastures, were forced to give them up at gun-point. There are several people on twitter that talk about their relatives (old farmers, fishermen) getting visited by police early in the morning and being asked to sign papers to give up their property rights to the state as per the emergency amendment that was passed during the dictatorship that was used to nationalize private businesses and factories.
Dozens of greeks were brutalized by riot police for resisting their forceful expulsion and seizure of their property. Many were hospitalized. Dozens of cars were destroyed by riot police so that greeks couldn’t travel to the build sites to stop the migrant cities from being built and to stop them from organizing.

They are all framing it as ‘local greeks angry a permenant camp will be built on a hill.” they also are basically blaming greece for poor conditions in the camps. they refuse to condemn turkey for it’s role, instead simply saying neutral things like ‘turkey is unlikely to accept the return of the migrants’, but for greeks it is ‘greed driven locals wont share with their new replacements’, in so many words.
